Mini Nutella Hand Pies

With Thanksgiving and the winter holidays quickly approaching, you’re bound to need some quick and easy recipes to bring along to parties or put out for your guests. You’ll also probably have lots of extra materials around in the mix of it all! I already do, and with such a hectic last few weeks (nothing worse than car trouble, guys!), I didn’t have a lot of time to put together a fancy dish to share (but seriously, don’t worry– real pies and deliciousness are soon to come!)

This easy last minute treat is seriously so delicious that you’ll have people begging for your recipe, if you can even call it that! 🙂
For Mini Nutella Hand Pies, you will need:
1 refrigerated pie crust
1 jar of Nutella
Powdered sugar, for sprinkling

Pre-heat your oven to 350.  Using a medium sized cookie cutter (2-3 inches,) cut out circles from your rolled out dough.  With the scraps, re-roll the dough out to cut additional circles– but be sure you roll it thin enough!  Scoop about 1 tsp, maybe a bit less, of Nutella towards the front of the circle.  Fold the back of the circle over, and press the edges together using a fork (this will both seal the pies and give them a cute design).  Poke holes in the top of the pie with the fork (again for cuteness, but this will also stop your dough from bubbling!)
Bake for about 10-15 minutes, until golden brown and remove from oven.  Sift powdered sugar over the tops, and that’s it!  Truly one of the easiest things I make every year, and literally never disappoint.  Enjoy!

Mini Hershey’s Kiss Pies

While I realize it’s only November (side note:  HOW IS IT NOVEMBER), once Halloween is over, I’m pretty much in full Christmas Time Mode.  If my boyfriend would let me, I’d buy one Christmas tree to last us for November, and a whole new (bigger, better, more beautiful) one to go through December.  BUT, since I’m insane and I have to wait until the day after Thanksgiving, I start off the holiday spirit with lots of baked goods and an obscene amount of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

I love an easy and pretty little treat for the holidays, and these are about as easy as it gets.

You will need:

Hershey’s Kisses, whatever flavor you like (I used classic milk chocolate, but the options are endless!)

Refrigerated pie crust (not puff pastry!)

1 Egg

Powdered sugar and granulated sugar for sprinkling

Pre-heat your oven to 350, and roll your pie crust out, flattening slightly.  Place your kisses on the dough, with enough room for each kiss to have a 2 1/2-3 inch circle surrounding it.  Using a knife (or a cookie cutter, which I was not bright enough to consider until I was done), cut 2 1/2-3 inch circles around each kiss.  With the scraps of your dough you will definitely be able to get a few more rounds, but be sure to roll it JUST as flat and thin as the original dough was, or else your second batch of pies will not be quite as cute!

From here, you’ll pinch the sides of the circle up to the top of the kiss, as seen in the picture above.  Once you have the kiss covered, pinch the seems together.  I brushed an egg wash on top of these cuties (1 egg white + 1 tbsp water,) but you could just as easily spray them with cooking spray and be fine.  Sprinkle granulated sugar on top, and bake for about 15 minutes, until golden brown.

Sift some powdered sugar on top for an added touch, and serve!  These are great fresh out of the oven or completely cooled, and are a perfect finger food for your holiday parties!
