While I realize it’s only November (side note: HOW IS IT NOVEMBER), once Halloween is over, I’m pretty much in full Christmas Time Mode. If my boyfriend would let me, I’d buy one Christmas tree to last us for November, and a whole new (bigger, better, more beautiful) one to go through December. BUT, since I’m insane and I have to wait until the day after Thanksgiving, I start off the holiday spirit with lots of baked goods and an obscene amount of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”
I love an easy and pretty little treat for the holidays, and these are about as easy as it gets.
You will need:
Hershey’s Kisses, whatever flavor you like (I used classic milk chocolate, but the options are endless!)
Refrigerated pie crust (not puff pastry!)
1 Egg
Powdered sugar and granulated sugar for sprinkling
Pre-heat your oven to 350, and roll your pie crust out, flattening slightly. Place your kisses on the dough, with enough room for each kiss to have a 2 1/2-3 inch circle surrounding it. Using a knife (or a cookie cutter, which I was not bright enough to consider until I was done), cut 2 1/2-3 inch circles around each kiss. With the scraps of your dough you will definitely be able to get a few more rounds, but be sure to roll it JUST as flat and thin as the original dough was, or else your second batch of pies will not be quite as cute!
From here, you’ll pinch the sides of the circle up to the top of the kiss, as seen in the picture above. Once you have the kiss covered, pinch the seems together. I brushed an egg wash on top of these cuties (1 egg white + 1 tbsp water,) but you could just as easily spray them with cooking spray and be fine. Sprinkle granulated sugar on top, and bake for about 15 minutes, until golden brown.
Sift some powdered sugar on top for an added touch, and serve! These are great fresh out of the oven or completely cooled, and are a perfect finger food for your holiday parties!
